SELECTIVE COATINGS

The particularity of two-tone decorative coatings is to combine two colours, in order to enhance the aesthetics and customise certain parts. By combining the natural colour of the substrate, electroplating and sputtering deposition, the decoration possibilities become immense. These treatments are aimed both at adorning watch interior and exterior parts.

A RESIST AND ABLATION TECHNIQUE

These selective coatings can also highlight certain mechanical decorations (Côtes de Genève, circular graining, sunray), and they can be used for colouring watch case middles, jewels and stone-set accessories. To obtain quality two-tone coatings, our know-how is based primarily on resist and ablation techniques, as well as on a perfect command of vacuum deposition.

OPENING UP THE FIELD OF POSSIBILITIES

According to the application, there are various principles for obtaining a two-tone decoration. The solution patented by POSITIVE COATING is based on the insulating properties of NanoDeCo® CVD layers deposited on a metal component.

An engraving or decoration (mechanical or laser) reveals the conductive surface of the substrate. This can than undergo galvanic treatment so as to obtain a two-tone part without the need for manual resist application. The advantage is to obtain precision in the details that is close to perfection.
